    SpeedFan...

I have added SpeedFan to the recommended programs list. I would also like to specially recommend that this program is used when rendering long animations in Terragen, because it can be configured to speed up your fans if the 100% processor power bombardment by Terragen starts cooking your processor.

For those users who are afraid of messing with advanced things like fan speeds, when it is installed it is only configured to let you see the temperatures given by your temperature sensors.

Temperature sensors? Don't worry if you think you don't have them - almost all motherboards come with several built in.

WARNING: If you don't know what you are doing (which is hard, because the help file is quite easy to use and helpful), then don't touch any settings. There are some settings in this program that could, and almost certainly would permanently damage your computer if you change them to something wrong (like setting the speed of all of your fans to 0%)!

    Portable Doors...

    More updates to Doors:

Install parameter added - This installs Doors on your computer, also adding shortcuts to the start menu.
Uninstall Parameter added - This uninstalls Doors.
New program added - DoorsExec.exe will execute Doors when it is installed or uninstall it, depending on what parameters it is given. (The Start Menu Shortcuts will supply the correct parameters).
New detection system added - Portable Doors.exe will be able to detect whether Doors is installed, uninstalled or in portable use, to prevent messing it up if you randomly re-execute Portable Doors.exe with, or without parameters.

I have also added a screenshot of one of the balloons that Portable Doors uses...

    Portable Doors...

Over the last few days I have added a lot of stuff to Portable Doors. These new features include the use of a notification icon (an icon that appears in that area next to your clock on the start bar), which can display those balloon things that Windows uses a lot. It also has a new icon - The proper Doors logo. There have also been some minor changes to programs within portable Doors, such as postable Doors, which now does not tell you that your copy of Windows is damaged when you try to run a Windows XP Professional tool or program on Home Edition. Instead it says that the above is probably the problem, although Windows may be damaged in some cases...

I may upload some screenshots soon...

    Space upgrade...

As you may have noticed, I have shifted some things about on the Emptosoft Space Home page. I have split the Emptosoft events list into two new lists: Upcoming Emptosoft Events and Past Emptosoft Events.

I have also tested the Portable Doors error messages on a very limited user account, and made an adjustment to Portable Doors to make the errors look better (The 'Preparing your computer...' box now dissapears from the background if Portable Doors encounters an error writing the Doors files to your computer).

Also, you may want to know what version Doors will be when it becomes available for download with all of these improvements to the oroginal 2.00 from September 1st. The answer is: It will still be 2.00. This is for two reasons:
    1. The changes I have made sinch September 1st are very minor.
    2. It would take about half an hour to fully change the version number displayed in the Doors slide show, and the Portable Doors program.

    Desktop Sidebar...

At the moment I am downloading Desktop Sidebar to have a look at, and see if it any good or not. If you want to download it, go to www.desktopsidebar.com and download it. If it seems to be good, and doesn't install or offer to install any free rubbish, like a lot of free screensavers do, then I will put it on the recommended programs list. (I test all software on that list personally).

I am also working on an Emptosoft motto, which sums up our vision, which I also have to write. Does anyone have suggestions?

    Portable Doors Update...

I have made some modifications to the PowerPoint window detection, and added this feature back to portable Doors. However, there may be some problems at first with versions of PowerPoint that I have not used before, involving PowerPoint not being delected when it is opened and closed. Hopefully I will resolve these problems in the near future, but the current system will have to do.

At the moment Portable Doors can detect:
Microsoft PowerPoint 2002 (the oldest version that will work with Doors)
Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2003 (even though this will not work very well at all)

Any upgrades to this list will be listed on this blog.

    Worst timetable ever...

Yup, it's official - I have a very bad school timetable. I end one day with games (which will make me late), one with RE (that's good), one with French (soooooo boring) and I end Mondays and Fridays with Physics (this is boring and will make me late)...and that's just the end of the days!

I want last year's timetable back now!

    Portable Doors Update...

I have known for a long time that the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewers are not able to open programs, but now I have found several other errors that make the viewers impossible to use with Portable Doors:

    1. When the viewers load the Doors slide show, they load the whole file from the hard drive, which means that Portable Doors thinks that the file is not being used after a few seconds, and it deletes all of the Doors files. (Unfortunately I have had to revert back to watching the Doors Slide show rather than the PowerPoint Windows, because of the large range of Window titles I have discovered that different versions of PowerPoint has).
    2. The Active X controls do not work on the Microsoft PowerPoint Viewers.

Anyway, if you are reading this within the next few weeks, then you shouldn't worry because Portable Doors is not available for download yet, and you probably have the full version of Microsoft PowerPoint...

    Back to school...

Unfortunately I am back to school tomorrow (where have the summer holidays gone?), so any progress with programming will be slow from now on, and messages on this blog will not be very frequent...If you get bored watching this blog, then please amuse yourself with one of the free programs shown on the space, or go to one of the good websites...
